Trademark Registration in Jordan: A Practical Path to Brand Protection and Risk Control

Start with the mark you want to protect
Identify the applicant, the final form of the mark, and the goods or services with which it will be used. The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply explains that a mark should be distinctive and perceptible by sight, with eligibility assessed under the Trademarks Law. An attractive name or available domain is not enough; a similar mark may exist, or the wording may be generic or descriptive. A trade name or company registration is also not the same as trademark registration.
Structure the clearance and filing
Use the official search, registration, and classification forms and guidance, and extend the search to similarities in pronunciation, appearance, and goods or services. Prepare the mark image, establishment documents, signing authority, and any priority document if applicable. Retain the receipt and correspondence and check the official fee schedule at filing because forms and fees may change.
After filing: examination, publication, and dates
The official service guide describes formal and substantive examination before the Registrar decides whether to accept or reject the mark. After initial approval, the mark is published; the guide states that if no opposition is filed within three months of publication, final registration follows after the final fee. If an amendment notice arrives, act within the period stated in the notice and current official source. Ask a lawyer to review the file where a similar mark, multiple owners, priority claim, foreign applicant, refusal, or opposition is involved.
